Hollywood , FL – More than 500 people recently attended the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida’s 9th Annual Bachelor/Bachelorette Auction, with the fundraiser generating $35,000 to grant the wishes of seven local children who have life-threatening medical conditions. The event, which took place at Spirits Nightclub in Seminole Paradise at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, featured 19 of South Florida’s most-eligible singles and extravagant date packages being sold to the highest bidder. Dates with NBC-6 news anchor Julia Yarbough, Tamara G., one of “Those Two Girls in the Morning” on 97.3 Coast FM, and “mystery bachelor” Bill Murphy, the voice of the Florida Panthers and an auctioneer, were available. Winning bidders will also enjoy a ride in the Goodyear blimp, a chartered fishing trip in Key Largo, and VIP seats to a Florida Marlins game. Coast morning show co-host Julie Guy emceed with Murphy. “The most gratifying thing is that seven more children will have wishes granted and dreams come true because of the bachelor/bachelorette auction,” said Norm Wedderburn, President & CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida. “It is also exciting to know our attendees are now more aware of the ‘power of a wish’ and how they can help make it happen.” The event was presented by the Broward WishMakers, and was sponsored by Dewar's 12, Premier Beverage, Autotrader.com, JML Motors, and Michael Utley PC.
